If you walk down Swinegate in York, you may not know you're passing a little slice of "Hollywood." Viridian FX is a special effects company working on some big-name movies and TV shows for the likes of Netflix, Universal, Paramount, and HBO.

If you've watched the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, Viridian FX were responsible for some of the visual effects. That project opened new doors to the studio, which firmly planted itself as a quality contender in an otherwise London-based industry.

Sophie Hudson speaks to Kit Monkman, one of the founders and directors of Viridian FX. He talks passionately about why York will remain their base as they grow, attracting more talent to the City. They also discuss the rise of AI in the film industry and what it may mean for the future.
